Wilanów is located in the left-bank part of Warsaw. It borders Mokotów to the north, Konstancin-Jeziorna to the south, the Wawer district to the east, and Ursynów to the west.
In the past, Wilanów was the oldest settlement in the vicinity of Warsaw and was called Milanów or Milanowo. The current name comes from the name of the Villa Nova palace, which was built in the 17th century and which was purchased by Jan III Sobieski through Marek Matczyński. Over the following years, the Wilanów estate passed into the ownership of more and more people, and from 1892 until the end of World War II it was in the possession of Count Ksawery Branicki. In 1995, the Wilanów palace and garden complex became the Museum of King Jan III's Palace in Wilanów.
The residents of Wilanów can enjoy many green areas. The most popular of them is the palace and park complex located in the south of Warsaw on Stanisław Kostki Potockiego Street. Here, on the edge of the Vistula escarpment, where the row of royal residences ends, there are magnificent gardens, parks and stylish buildings. Visitors can admire the courtyard located right in front of the Wilanów Palace, which is accessed by green alleys. The Morysin nature reserve is also popular, as is the Golf Parks Poland training facility for learning and improving the game of golf on Vogla Street.
In Wilanów, it is also worth visiting, among others, the palace and park complex in Natolin, the Wilanów Poster Museum on Stanisław Kostki Potockiego Street or the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Anne.
In addition to Wilanów Królewski, it is worth taking a look at Miasteczko Wilanów - a modern and exclusive investment in Wilanów. Its borders run along Przyczółkowa Street, Wilanowska Avenue and the Southern Warsaw Bypass. While walking along Przyczółkowa Street, it is worth visiting the lovers' bridge, built over the Służewiecki stream. Royal Wilanów is characteristic of Miasteczko Wilanów. It is a common space located in the heart of Wilanów, consisting of office space, shops, restaurants, medical and service points and a gym. In the surrounding area there are playgrounds and sports facilities, and in the summer months residents enjoy an outdoor cinema.
There are many bike paths and places in Wilanów for children to play and relax in the fresh air. On the Wilanów Beach, on the corner of al. Wilanowska and Przyczółkowa Street, there is the largest playground in Wilanów. Other playgrounds are located on Bruzdowa, Gronowa, Maltańska and Stanisława Lentza Streets.
According to popular opinion, the wild beach by the Zawadowski embankment is one of the most beautiful beaches in Warsaw. In this place, residents of Wilanów, but also the rest of Warsaw, can relax by walking or sunbathing.
Wilanów is well connected to the rest of Warsaw. There are numerous bus lines, a 130-meter connector (Branickiego Street and Ledóchowska Avenue) from Wilanów to Ursynów, the Southern Bypass of Warsaw (route S2), and in the near future a tram to Wilanów. The planned route will run along Rzeczypospolitej Avenue, Sobieskiego Avenue, Belwederska Avenue, Spacerowa Avenue, Goworka Avenue to Puławska Avenue.
The previously mentioned bicycle paths provide Wilanów residents with additional transport options. These include the 43-kilometer route Piaseczno - Las Kabacki - Konstancin - Kępa - Wyspy Zawadowskie - Wilanów - Las Kabacki - Piaseczno, the 23-kilometer route around Wilanów and the almost 25-kilometer route Wilanów - Sulejówek.
Wilanów is an excellent place to live. Many families with children find their dream property here. In Wilanów there are estates of single-family houses, terraced houses, as well as large-panel blocks. However, the predominance of properties built using modern technology is becoming more and more noticeable, including, of course, Miasteczko Wilanów in particular.
